Life is stranger than Fiction: Angels Caught on Camera

In this technological era, where street cams are perched at
practically every corner, where cars sometimes come equipped with dashboard
cameras and where every person with a cell phone can snap a picture or take a
video at a moment’s notice, there’s nothing that can’t be captured on film,
including angels!
If I were an angelic being determined to remain unnoticed,
I’d be pretty bummed right now. Thankfully, I’m an author who spends her days
writing about angels, so this actually works in my favor. All of a sudden, I
have hours of spectacular footage waiting to be discovered online.
Today, I’m going to share a few of these fantastical stories
with you.
The first is an image of an angel-like creature filmed by a
security camera in Indonesia. On September 11, 2011, a humanoid with wings
allegedly descended from the sky and rested on the ground, its body pulsing
with a strange white glow. Seconds later, it soared toward the heavens again and
disappeared. The YouTube video has had over a million views to date, with
people debating over whether the footage is real or a hoax. Watch and decide for yourself.

When I saw this footage, my first thought was, this could be one of the characters in my Dark Souls series. I can’t say for sure if this video is real or if some whiz kid is having a good laugh at our expense, but it’s enough to give wings to my already overactive imagination!

But most inspiring of all is the heartwarming tale of a
disabled fourteen-year-old girl who was dying of pneumonia in a hospital in
Charlotte, NC. The girl had been in the hospital for a month, and the prognosis
was grim. Having run out of hope and unwilling to see her child suffer any more
pain, the mom agreed to take her daughter off life support.
The nurse had just removed the girl’s oxygen mask and
returned to her desk, when she saw something strange on the surveillance
monitor. It looked like a man standing beyond the doors of the ICU. The nurse
left her station and went to investigate, but when she opened the doors, no one
was there. She returned to the nurse’s station, only to see the figure on the
monitor yet again. She and another nurse stared at the figure in awe, slowly
realizing the man had wings.
Then, a miracle happened. The girl recovered just in time to
celebrate her fifteenth birthday on Christmas day! If you want to know more,

Why do I write paranormal fiction? Because for a few hours a
day, I can leave the boring and the mundane behind and bask in the phenomenal.
In those few hours, I learn to believe in miracles, and my hope is restored.
There is something infinitely alluring about the strange and unexplained. It
makes us question the things we think we know and forces us to open our minds
to things we never considered.
I like to believe there is magic in the world around us,
even if we can’t see it, and I try to capture that magic in the books I write.
I take these stories, these ideas that sometimes elicit a smirk or an eye-roll,
and weave them together to create a new reality. One where anything is possible.
